Jerome "Jerry" Gangitano, age 72, of Port Jefferson Station, New York passed away on Friday, March 1, 2024. Husband and "Funny Valentine" of Eydie Gangitano for nearly 48 happy years. Loving father of William (wife Christine) and Joe (wife Karen). Adored grandfather of Lucas, Noah, and newest addition, Lilah. Beloved brother of two sisters, Marie (husband Paul) Marsac, and Annette Gangitano.
After receiving a bachelor's degree in accounting in his early adulthood, Jerome worked in the industry since 1972, until retirement, proudly and selflessly providing for his family. Jerry was a patriotic man, taking pride in his country and what it stood for. In his free time, Jerry was an avid hobby hunter and fisherman, even if he wasn't always the most successful on his trips. What he did scrounge up, he loved to cook; he would prepare meals of fish or occasionally venison for his family. At the end of the day, Jerry could be found reclining beside his wife, Eydie, to watch political commentary cable news shows as well as an occasional Hallmark movie.
Jerry was, as described by his closest loved ones, the ultimate family man and one of the most selfless and helpful humans you might ever come across, not to mention a good sport. Jerry was often the brunt of family pranks and harmless jokes, but he embraced this role in the family and reveled at the sight of the many smiles he put on everyone’s faces around him.
