Betty Ann Peckman Alpert was born to Herman and Clara (Minden) Peckman on September 30, 1931, in Paola, KS. She was baptized October 18, 1931, at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church and confirmed at First Lutheran Church on March 25, 1945. She attended First Lutheran School and then finished high school at Paola High, Class of 1949. After graduation, she moved to Kansas City and studied Cosmetology. She lived in the city and was a hairdresser at Macy’s and The Jones Store.
On February 28, 1952, she married Carl Ray Alpert, of Paola -they built a home in Overland Park, KS, where they attended Bethany Lutheran Church. They had two children - Blinda and Karl. In 1972, the family relocated to Olathe, and became members of Redeemer Lutheran Church.
Betty was a stable role model and a loving, faithful mother. She was the glue that held the family together – so proud to assist her son Karl, as secretary for his mowing business. She also sold Avon and she had a great love for all animals. Over the years she brought home numerous animals to care for, including a fawn named Fei Fei. She helped bottle feed baby calves, cleaned horse stalls, and traveled to many 4H and horse shows.
She will be greatly missed! She was predeceased by her parents, Herman and Clara Peckman, and by her husband Carl Ray Alpert. She is survived by her children, Blinda Alpert, of Olathe, and Karl Alpert, of Paola, and one brother, Lyman Peckman, his son Steve Peckman and grandson Stephen, all of Prairie Village, KS.
The family would like to thank all the gracious care givers for the special attention they gave Miss Betty: Glenda (Elrod) Mohr, Julie Dingus, Lisa Valdez, Alyssa GraƯ, and Sharon Martin. They provided the best care and really loved her a lot - and we are deeply grateful for that!
She was very serious about her Lutheran faith. She had an uncle, Henry Peckman, and first-cousins, Richard,
Walter and Paul Peckman, who are all Lutheran Pastors. She was so proud of their devotion.
We feel her confirmation verse is appropriate for today -
Isaiah 41:10 “…do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
Service will be held at 10:30 am, on Thursday, March 14th, 2024 at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 920 S Alta Lane, Olathe. A luncheon will immediately follow at the church.
